🛠️ The Ultimate DTF Gang Sheet Preparation Guide
To ensure your custom apparel looks professional, vibrant, and sharp, follow these technical requirements before uploading your artwork.
1. File Specifications
- Format: PNG is strongly recommended for its ability to handle transparency. We also accept high-resolution PDF (vector-based).
- Resolution: Your file must be 300 DPI at the final print size.Warning: Taking a low-resolution image (72 DPI) and "saving it" as a 300 DPI file will not fix the quality; it will still print blurry or pixelated.
- Background: Must be 100% Transparent. Any white boxes or "hidden" background layers will print as solid white blocks.
- Color Mode: Use RGB. Our RIP software is optimized to convert your bright RGB designs into a perfect CMYK + White ink output.
2. Layout & Spacing
- Canvas Width: Set your workspace width to 22 inches.
- Safe Margins: Keep all designs at least 0.25" away from the edges of the sheet to prevent cut-offs during the printing process.
- Cutting Room: Leave at least 0.5" to 1" of space between each design. This gives you enough room to cut the transfers apart with scissors or a trimmer without damaging the artwork.
- Nesting: Rotate your designs and "tuck" smaller logos (like neck labels or sleeve hits) into the empty gaps of larger graphics to maximize your value.
3. Design "Red Flags" to Avoid
- No Semi-Transparency: DTF printers cannot "fade" into the shirt. Avoid glow effects, drop shadows with soft edges, or designs with 50% opacity. All edges should be crisp and solid.
- Minimum Line Weight: Any lines or text thinner than 1.5pt (approx. 0.02 inches) may not have enough white ink underbase to stick to the garment during the wash.
- No Mirrored Images: Do not flip your artwork! Our software automatically mirrors the design for the printing process. Upload your art exactly as you want it to look on the shirt.
